2019
What a busy year!
We said farewell and safe travels to Adam, who started his graduate career at USC. Keep in touch, and we look forward to hearing about your next project! Miyuki successfully defended her PhD in August. Congratulations, Dr. Thirumurthy! She will continue as a postdoctoral scholar in the lab, contributing her expertise in protein expression and molecular biology. |
Our lab grew quite a bit this fall!
We welcomed Gaurav and Thao as new graduate students. Kelsea also officially joined the lab as a new graduate student, after serving as an undergrad researcher and research technician. |
2018
Happy holidays! We welcomed a few new members this fall: Justus has joined our lab as a new graduate student, and we welcomed baby Thomas in October!
We had a small holiday party and broke out of the Chemical Lab at Lockdown Escape Rooms (with seconds to spare). Great teamwork, Jones Lab! We relocated our lab to the shiny, new Biodesign C building. While we are still part of the School of Molecular Sciences, we are also Biodesigners. Thank you all for your help this gargantuan effort! |
We had a lab party on July 4th, with many things to celebrate! This summer, Adam joined the lab as a research specialist, and Dave defended his dissertation! He will be leaving the southwest to start a new job at KBI Biopharma in North Carolina. We will miss you, Dr. Jennings! Cheers!
The pseudocarbyne project has been funded by the Keck Foundation. We are actively seeking motivated researchers to join this project.
The Jones group is now part of a Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) grant that focuses on "Livtronics: Living Electronics for Biologically-Enhanced Sensing, Computing, and Signal Transmission."
Zahra presented her work in May at the 233rd Electrochemical Society meeting in Seattle, WA.

Lab potluck was on Dec. 15th.
We failed to document the event because we were too busy having fun! Happy holidays everyone! Kelsea joins the lab as a new undergraduate researcher, and will be working on a new synthesis project with Christina. Our undergraduate researcher, Arianne, has graduated and moved to Germany to apply for medical school. Alles Gute, Arianne! Garrett presented his work at "GRC-Metals in Biology" in Ventura, CA. Joe Laureanti successfully defended his thesis! He has moved on to his postdoctoral appointment at Pacific Northwest National Lab. We will miss you, Dr. Laureanti! |
